Part of addressing the root cause, is investigating ones DIET.
Its not enough to say " eat clean food" or "eat nutrient dense food".
Even health food can cause us to gain weight! WHAT?
For most of my years I was able to maintain a steady weight. Then came changes, moving countries, moving into a new city, new home which all was great, BUT I UNDERESTIMATED the power of what STRESS can do to the body. ESPECIALLY when you IGNORE symptoms. Your body was designed to give you signals, which are in the form of symptoms.
I also found myself weighing more than I was comfortable with and we all have that set point which makes us comfortable.
I was eating clean whole foods that were organic and nutrient dense ( still a great option). BUT still managed to put on weight and couldn't budge the scale.
I also realized I had also become insulin resistant. Its where your body stores insulin as FAT! YIKES!!
So, what did I do? Yes, I took to more exercise and cut calories.... after being Paleo, Keto and doing lots of intermittent fasting and fasting I drove myself completely off the rails, not mention I was starving.
The thing is social media has us believing that we need to do more and eat less AND this could be FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!
After becoming a Functional Health Practitioner I was able to run labs on myself. I was so tired of seeking assistance from Conventional, being told "all is fine", blah, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong, there is certainly a place for conventional medicine in acute situations. But, if you ever want to understand the root cause of your PROBLEM, western medicine is not your solution.
I discovered that my hormones were imbalanced, I had HPA dysfunction (what is known amongst circles as adrenal fatigue) and my gut needed to be eradicated from pathogens😲 By ignoring the physical symptoms my body was desperately trying to tell me I ran my system into the DITCH!
You see FAD Diets are not great when you have any hormone imbalances, have insulin resistance or HPA Dysfunction. In fact most people have ONE or ALL THREE of these trying to improve their overall Health and body composition and get super frustrated because they cannot budge the bulge! I wish someone had told me this way earlier.
So, I decided to add in Nutrition Coaching into my practice to learn the science and APPLICATION ( which is imperative to being able to help people, may sound silly but its TRUE)
What I discovered was, that there is a way to restore your metabolism and also rebuild your hormone profile with Nutrition along with addressing root causes that allows your body to heal. AND this is where the magic all happens!
So what does this mean?
It means that once you heal your metabolism, getting it fired back to where it is supposed to be, you can finally start achieving your body composition goals of not only becoming a happier, healthier you BUT also see some FAT LOSS.
And before you go running and click off this page, it certainly doesn't mean cutting calories or being a carbaphobia ( which I was) to achieve your GOALS! In fact, its the opposite. It is all about adding to and into your Nutrition Plan.
Say what? Yup, you READ that right!
